Edmund Kulesa Obituary

Edmund Michael Kulesa, 91, of Crown Point, formerly of South Holland, IL, passed away on Friday November 21, 2025. Survived by his wife Joan (Stasak) Kulesa of 67 years, children James (Joanette) Kulesa, Kathleen (Warren) Miedema and Robert Kulesa. Grandchildren Eric (Sara) Miedema, Matthew (Kimberly) Miedema, great grandchildren Lily, Ava and Zoe Miedema. Sister-in-laws Betty Kulesa, Sharon Kulesa and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his son Edmund Kulesa Jr., parents Michael & Sophie (Lula) Kulesa, sisters Genevieve (and Paul) Johnsen, Frances (and Thomas) Dubczak, brothers Michael Kulesa, Joseph Kulesa, Raymond Kulesa, and Stanley Kulesa.
Ed was born May 3, 1934 at home in East Chicago, IN. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952 and attended Purdue University in Hammond, IN. He went into the US Army from 1954 to 1956 and then returned to Purdue. Ed married Joan Stasak on September 6, 1958 when he was a senior. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1959. Ed joined the Knights of Columbus in Lafayette, IN and was very active until his retirement in 1996. He took a job with Continental Oil in Ponca City, OK., where Edmund Jr was born. Ed was transferred to Westlake, LA in 1960 where James, Kathleen and Robert were born. Ed then went to work for Continental Can Co. in Chicago, IL. and lived in South Holland, IL from 1963 to1995. He retired after 32 years and moved to Lakes of the Four Seasons (LOFS) in Crown Point Indiana in 1995 and joined Holy Spirit Catholic Church as a founding member when it was formed in December 1996. He was an active parishioner, member of the church choir and was an integral part of the church office for 15 years under Father Joseph V, Murphy.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 DIRECTLY at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7667 109th Ave, Crown Point, IN from 9:30 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am with Fr. Thomas E. Mischler officiating.
A private burial will be held at St John-St Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hammond, IN at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
