Eric Anderson Obituary
Eric was retired from the University of Chicago where he had worked for thirty years as a groundskeeper and as a mechanic. During his many years as a groundskeeper Eric took great pride in being responsible for the high-profile buildings on campus including The President's Mansion, Rockefeller Memorial Chapel and the Frederick C. Robi House to name a few.
Eric married Lara B. Volkman in October, 2019. Despite being married for a short time, they were fortunate to have forty loving years together. In addition to his wife, Lara, Eric is survived by his siblings Catherine Smith (Randall) of Fort Wayne, IN; William "Smokey" Andersson (Sue) of Linden, IN; Kathleen Miller of Richmond, VA; Steve Chidalek (Linda) of Linden, IN; Lara's sister Jennifer Shaw (Gene) of New York, New York. Also surviving are several cousins and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. He held each of them dearly in his heart.
Eric enjoyed nature, observing animals and spoiling his pets. He also loved camping, music, grilling, gardening, and spending time with his loved ones on the family farm, among other things. Eric was a very caring person who touched the lives of many with his generosity and love. He will be profoundly missed by those fortunate enough to know him.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents as well as his stepmother Celestina "Chuckie" Anderson.
A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date.

I´m William Caddick
I hired Eric at the University of Chicago many years ago this obituary says a lot about Eric
(All ture) however Eric was a ture hard worker the man that got things GONE!
If the UofC was hosting a VIP Iwould always ask who has the grounds covered
If I was told it was Eric I knew we were in good hands
Eric was the man behind the sene quite and invisible .i later moved on to the Art institute of Chicago where I often wished I had Eric back on my crew
Not a chance he loved the university of Chicago I´ll always remember the xmass parties we had and the retirement parties
Eric would always make sure the campus was as clean and beautiful for the following day
Although I never met his close family nor his wife, you have my condolences at this critical time. I wish you the best and God bless Eric William Caddick.
