Frances Jean (Dvorscak) Kutzko
Frances Jean (Dvorscak) Kutzko passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to family, faith, and community service. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
Frances attended St. John the Baptist School in Whiting, Indiana, and graduated from Whiting High School in 1952. She continued her education at Indiana State University, where she earned her degree in social work and was a proud member of the Phi Mu sorority. In 1958, she married Nick Kutzko (deceased).
She is survived by her son, Nick (Cathy) Kutzko; daughter, Sandy MacDougall Robertson; her beloved grandson, Nick Kutzko; sister, Bette Vance of Tampa, Florida; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Frances devoted 33 years of her professional life to the Indiana Welfare Department, working in the Family and Child Services until her retirement. Through her career, she touched the lives of countless children and families, offering compassion, advocacy, and hope to those who needed it most.
A longtime member of St. John's Church in Whiting, Frances served faithfully on the Rosary Society. She was a member of the Whiting High School Reunion Committee, joyfully reconnecting with classmates and preserving lasting friendships. Frances had a deep love for music and musicals and attended countless performances. The Arts brought her great joy, and she delighted in sharing that passion with friends and family. Frances will always be loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Friends are invited to visit with Frances's family on Tuesday, March 3 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. Her funeral will take place on Wednesday, March 4 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with her nephew, Fr. John Dvorscak, officiating. Frances will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Frances's name to St John Baptist Church in Whiting, IN, the Lansing Paramedic, or the William J. Riley Memorial Hospice, 511 Otis Bowen Dr., Munster, IN 46321.
