Family of George "Sharkey" Maloian,
Another Washington Senator joins Coach Sarkisian and Coach Siegle in Heaven.
There isn't much that we can say to ease your sense of loss, but I want you to know that although we are not there with you, our thoughts and prayers, are with you and your family in this time of sorrow. Hoping that time will bring you comfort, friends will give you strength, and beautiful memories will fill your hearts with peace during this time of sadness.
May God place George among his righteous, and grant you strength at this time of sorrow. Please accept our deepest sympathy.

Mr. Maloian (Coach) was a man that gave his all to the youth of East Chicago, specifically the Harbor. Coach was one of a kind. He had a way of giving the kids strict direction and guidance but always had a kind and loving way about his message. We all knew that coach wanted all of us to succeed not only in sports but in life. I still remember all of the bus trips with the ECW football team and the incredibly great run we had in the Senior League baseball all-star tournament where we ended up in the final four of the state. Through all of it, Coach was graceful even in tough losses.
Coach Maloian's kindness and classy demeanor was evident in the way his children, Mike and Karen, treated people. I was a sophomore on the high school baseball team when Mike was a senior. He always treated me with kindness even when I made mistakes or errors. I never heard a mean word from him, total acts of kindness. Karen, my classmate, was always one of the nicest people I've ever met in life. Again, always treating others with kindness.
Of course, Mrs. Maloian, was always at the little league field supporting Coach and her kids. Although, she was always there to support ALL of the kids. We knew we could go to her with anything and she'd be there.
I haven't seen the Maloians in quite some time. However, I will say that Coach did make a huge impact in my life along with his family. To coin the phrase, "It takes a village to raise a child", it truly does. Coach Maloian's example of how to treat others provided a model of how I wanted to be. I've failed many times, but it's the memories of people like George Maloian that put us back on the right track. I mean, I can really see Coach right now at the front of the bus with the other coaches with either Coach Passmore or Quin driving. I usually sat toward the back. Every game, including home games, was a bus ride since we didn't have our own football fied.
A funny story, coach liked to chew and always had his cup with him. On the way to one of games the bus hit a bump. There goes the cup, right on to Manny Sosa's back....lol. Coach was embarrassed and apologized to Manny, :) But, really, how could anyone get mad at Coach, right? I guess they'll both be talking about it because they're both in heaven right now. Gosh, I remember the event just like it happened yesterday.
Coach Maloian and family, I will always keep you in my prayers. Even though we haven't seen each other in a long time doesn't mean that you are not in my thoughts. Good people are always remembered and I often smile when I think of the good times for which you were a part of. Thank God for putting Coach Maloian in my life and I will always remember the great times we had.
God Bless.
