Gilbert Howard Nannenga of Demotte, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born on August 18, 1933, in Demotte, Indiana, he was the son of Jacob Nannenga and Clara (Musch) Nannenga. Gilbert served his country proudly as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army for two years.

On November 23, 1956, he married the love of his life, Betty Jean Jabaay, who lovingly survives him. Gilbert spent 37 years as a dedicated heavy equipment operator with the Local 150 before retiring from the union. He was a devoted member of the American Reformed Church and the American Legion Post 440.

Gilbert had a passion for life and enjoyed fishing, golfing, riding motorcycles, and helping his son with his race car. He will be remembered for his hard work, devotion to family, and love of adventure.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean; his sons, Bill (Donna) Nannenga, Larry (Caroline) Nannenga, and Michael Nannenga; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jeraldine, Margie, Sue, and Betty. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Alice; his brother, Jim; and two grandchildren.

Gilbert's family will forever cherish his warmth, humor, and steadfast presence. He leaves a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories.

Family and friends may gather at American Reformed Church on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Troy Nanninga. Interment will be held at Holland Cemetery.
