Gilbert Vuyakovich Obituary
Gilbert "Goyko" Vuyakovich, age 78, of Crown Point, IN, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008. He was born November 5, 1928 in Gary, IN to the late Nikola and Anna Vuyakovich. Goyko was a lifelong member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church and past president of its Karageorge Choir. A retired employee of the Budd Co. For several years, he was a member of the former "Zora" tamburitza orchestra. He was a graduate of Froebel High School. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy; and sister, Violet. Gilbert is survived by two children: Dale Vuyakovich and Luanne Vuyakovich; cousin, Steve (Jackie) Glusac; in-laws: Elaine Zeremsky, Helen Kirby and Zorine (V. Rev. Vasil) Sokolovich, and Tim Vitkovich; nieces and nephews: Donniella Zeremsky, Dr. Cindy (Rudy) Kirby, Betsy (Jerry) Kirby, Tammy Kirby, Esq., Zorine (Skip) Woldt, Mirjana (Milan) Damjanovic and Tosho Sokolovich and family; also many Kumovi and lifelong family friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church with Rev. Marko Matic officiating. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN under Savich & Semplinski Directors. A Pomen Service will be offered at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
