Howard Sherman was one of, if not the -- most trustworthy, authentic, generous, reliable, hardworking, and kind human I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with. Being with Howard was a humbling experience. He was goodness and light - always. God's love shown through Howard like an on coming train in the night. To know Howard was to know that in this world there are good and honorable people. Rare as they are, Howard was no doubt their elected ambassador. He was also a decorated war hero. I cherish our talks about the 2nd Infantry Division. I was there before him, or he was there before me..it doesn't matter. We enjoyed each other's references and experiences; and respected each others services. To his last day on God's earth, he lived a soldiers life. He asked for little, got by on even less; yet did so much for everyone around him. A servant-soldiers heart he had. He was also an athlete. To the day he died, he continued doing his mandatory Army push-ups and daily exercises. It's the commitment the rest of us long gave up, that Howard continued on for over 50 years. He was better than all of us combined. No one should be surprised if Howard is there to greet us, should we make it Heaven.
