James "Jim" Earl Smith

James E. Smith, age 65, of Hammond was peacefully called home by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 16, 2025, while surrounded by his loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kimberly Lynn Smith (nee Little); three sons: Justin (Ginger), James and Benjamin Smith; grandchildren: Jayde, Alec and Korra Smith; parents: James (Marilyn) Smith; three brothers: Dave (Wanda), Jeff and Matt (Sue) Smith; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Laura Tracy.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Ave. Hammond, IN 46323 and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Church. Funeral service will be held directly at Highland First Church of the Nazarene, 9330 Kennedy Avenue, Highland, Indiana 46322 on Saturday November 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Nathan Bucholz officiating followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond.
Jim was born and raised in Hammond; he attended Gavitt High School. Jim owned and operated Jim's Carpet Service for 45 years until retirement in 2021. He attended Highland First Church of the Nazarene. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, sports, comics and rockets. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be appreciated.
