John Clover Obituary

JOHN FREDERICK CLOVER WINTER GARDEN, FL John Frederick Clover of Winter Garden, FL and formerly of Valparaiso, passed away on October 29, 2014, at the age of 75, due to having lived a full life. "Uncle Jack" as he was called by many was born May 18, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Fern and Frederick Clover. He attended Bishop Noll High School and always remembered these years with his home phone number which ended in "1957". Afterwards Jack attended Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL where he was a member of Phi Omega fraternity and saved a number of people from drowning in the Gulf of Mexico during a storm. He was an acting foreman at a steel mill at the age of 18, an Azalea Trial dandy, and an owner of the Green Bay Packers. Truly, he devoted his life to service, from the Marines, to his years as a social worker, and a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary who we believe was with him at the end. Marrying Becky (Beldon) Clover, Jack spent the next 42 years in Valparaiso, where he seemed to know the name of every serviceman, waitress, or stranger on the street. It was important to Jack to be kind to strangers and to ask and answer one of his favorite questions . . . "are we having fun OR WHAT?" He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters, Alice Clover and Rosemary Austgen. He is survived his by sister, Lois Kolb; wife , Becky Clover; son, Jude Clover and daughter in law, Tracy, their two children: Addison and Caedmon Clover; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and the countless children and families that he served and protected through his work in social services. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., with Fr. Doug Mayer officiating. Memorial Visitation will be Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service. Private burial of ashes will take place at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorial are requested to Carmelite Home 4840 Grasselli Ave. East Chicago, IN 46312 Attn: Sister Giuseppe 219-397-1085. moellerfuneralhome.com

My sincere condolences to the family, especially Becky and Jude, whom I haven't seen since a student at VHS in art class. Everyone was always greeted with a large smile and lots of laughter from your dad. What a wonderful legacy! He was truly a "giver" in life!
