85, of Lowell, IN passed away Friday, March 20, 2026. He is survived by his children, Donna (Michael) Trueblood of Lowell, John (Shari) of Schererville, Robin (Bob) Bowman of Lowell, Steve (Deanna) of Demotte; grandchildren, Christopher Good, Shane, Aaron, Nathan and Brian Trueblood; Amy and Jake Erb; Courtney Bowman, Morgan Mijares and Rabecka Bowman; and Sara and Emily Erb; great grandchildren, Jade and Hunter Marx; and Matthew and Grayson McTaggart; sisters, Pat Anderson and Leslie Arrigo; brother-in-law, Vern Mortenson. Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jackie; sisters, Joan (Don) Morrill, Cathy Mortenson and brother-in-law, Ralph Arrigo.

After leaving High School, John joined the United States Marine Corp where he served for 4 years. When he returned home he married Jackie and started a family. John was working for his Uncle Don's sod farm when he started working for Inland Steel, where he retired after 30 years. He also was a volunteer Fireman with Lake Dale Fire Dept for 25 years, serving 2 terms as Chief. At 55years old, John worked hard and became a Pilot, flying out of Griffith Airport, Jackie and him enjoyed flying out of state to go have breakfast. Some other things they enjoyed as a couple were cruising on their Goldwing motorcycle, camping with the family, traveling to Florida where they were snowbirds for 17 years and attending church together at Bethel Church. John also had a great group of friends, his "over the hill coffee club" in Lowell and from Inland Steel who would still meet monthly.

Visitation, Wednesday April 1, 2026 from 4-6PM with Memorial Service following at 6PM, all at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Ave, Lowell, IN 46356. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Church Crown Point or Alzheimer's Awareness.
