CEDAR LAKE, IN - John P. Michaels, age 59. Late of Cedar Lake, IN formerly of the East Side of Chicago. Passed away suddenly on October 1, 2023. Beloved husband of Kathy (nee Smith) for 23 years.

Loving father of Dana Gonsiorowski and Eden Renee Marsh (dec). Cherished grandfather of Angie, Zach, Amber, Aby, Andy, and Dillon. Devoted great-grandfather of Lily, Ben, Brody, Axel, Sadie Layne, Tre, Declan, and Greg. Dearest son of Rose and the late Gerald Michaels. Dear brother of Steven (Carol) Michaels. John is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He retired from US Steel as an electrician with 29 years of dedicated service. John was an avid golfer who competed in many tournaments. He was a diehard Chicago Blackhawks, White Sox, and Bears fan. John will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial Visitation Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. with a Service at 3:30 p.m. at the ELMWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 9931 Lincoln Plaza Way (1/2 block south of 133rd Ave. across from the library at Lincoln Plaza Way) Cedar Lake.
