Kathleen Markovich Obituary

Kathleen (Kathy) Markovich, age 81, passed away on December 11, 2025 with her family by her side. Born August 13, 1944, she was the beloved daughter of Noble and Mary Smith and sister of Vickie Sue, all of whom preceded her in death.

Kathy is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Donald Markovich, her children Paul Markovich (Karen Kallok), Melissa Rettig (Scott Rettig), and grandsons Kyle and Carson Rettig.

A 1962 graduate of Highland High School, Kathy lived in Highland, St. John, Schererville, and Mears, Michigan. She enjoyed photography, drawing, ceramics, and design.

Kathy loved nature and all animals and believed the natural world brought her closer to a higher power.

She was known for her honesty, strong sense of self, and ability to love with clarity and depth. Her creativity, authenticity, and love for family leave a lasting and cherished legacy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined.
