Kenneth J. Ryan, age 91, of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Ryan (nee Charbonneau).
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Regina Ryan (nee Kirk); siblings, John (Sarah) Ryan, Vera (Mrs. Donald) Weber, Regina (Mrs. George) Weber and Arthur (Lucille) Ryan.
Kenneth moved from Joliet, IL, to Gary, IN, in 1940. He graduated from Holy Angels Grade School (1946), Bishop Noll High School (1950) and St. Joseph College (1954). He was a Personnelman in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958, stationed at the U.S. Naval Station in Jacksonville, FL, for most of his naval career. He retired from Gary National Bank (now Chase Bank) as a pension/profit sharing Vice President in 1991, having been a bank employee since January 1959. He was a charter member (1973) of the Merrillville Civitan Club (works with/for the mentally/physically handicapped) where he held offices as president and treasurer. Kenneth was a 50+ year member of Holy Martyrs Parish (formerly St. Andrew Parish) where he was an Eucharistic Minister, reader, song leader, interim choir director and long time member of the parish finance committee.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Geisen-Pruzin Funeral & Cremation Services, 6360 Broadway Ave., Merrillville, IN, 46410 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 5:00 PM.
On Friday, June 28, 2024, prayers will begin at 9:30 AM from the Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 AM from Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 801 W 73rd Ave., Merrillville, IN 46410 with Rev. Ted Mauch officiating.
Cremation will follow and he will later be laid to rest at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Crown Point, IN.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Kenneth's name to Fr. Blaney's (Bishop Noll Classmate) Share Foundation, P.O. Box 400, Rolling Prairie, IN 46371-400 or Civitan International Research Center, 500 Corporate Parkway Suite 150, Birmingham, AL 35242, or Memorial Masses.

Truly one of the good guys, he'll be greatly missed by all who knew him. Conventions aren't near as much fun without you two. So thankful for meeting you at those 1987 SO games and for your friendship ever since. love & Prayers
