LAURENCE McGRATH Obituary
Laurence C. McGrath, age 89, of Hobart, passed away December 12, 2016. He was a member of St. Bridget's Church in Hobart and a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Laurence was a retired employee of Nipsco with 34 years of service and a member of Knights of Columbus #1347 - Hobart Council. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy J. (nee Peloquin) McGrath; brother, Robert T. McGrath. He is survived by his four sons: Steven L. (Vena) McGrath of Valparaiso, Thomas C. (Mariann) McGrath of Stoneham, Mass., Daniel P. McGrath of Hobart, Paul J. McGrath of Hobart; ten grandchildren: Kyle, Cole, Megan (Kyle) Yonkers, Brandon (Kelsey), Jamis (Jenean), Teisa, Kristi, Michael J., Steven and Joseph; great grandchild, Clova McGrath; one brother, Donald E. (June) McGrath of Spencer, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial for Laurence will be Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Bridget's Church, 201 Center Street, Hobart. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 East 7th Street, Hobart, with a Knights of Columbus service at 4:30 p.m. Services will end at church with cremation to follow on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army. www.burnsfuneral.com
