Lillian E. Miles (nee Joyce), age 84, of Merrillville, IN passed away on 10/22/24.
Lillian is survived by her nephew David (Kirsten) Joyce, great-niece Phoebe and great-nephew Luke, sister-in-law Janice Joyce, nephew Eric (Veronica) Joyce, great-niece Jordyn, and great-nephew Logan. She is also survived by her dear friends of over 60 years Robert and Nancy Marszalek.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ronald, her parents, Raymond and Lillian Joyce, and her brother Raymond.
Lillian was born on June 16, 1940, in Springfield, MA. The family lived in East Hartford, CT, until August 1952, when they moved to Gary, IN. A graduate of Emerson High School Class of 1958, she began her 45-year work life that same year at the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. She had numerous jobs through the years: office secretary, unemployment interviewer, employment interviewer, then supervisor. In 1973, she was promoted to labor market analyst for the Lake and Porter Counties area, a job she held until she retired in 2003. During her life she was an avid Notre Dame fan, as well as the Chicago Bears and Cubs. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and listen to music. She and Ron were also great lovers of dogs.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Geisen-Pruzin Funeral & Cremation Services, 6360 Broadway Ave., Merrillville, IN 46410 from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00 pm.
