Lucille J. Sternberg, age 78, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at St. Mary Medical Center. Lucille was born on July 17, 1947, in Gary, Indiana to the late Charles and Selma (nee Zelkae) Hicks. Lucille was a devoted homemaker who treasured caring for her family. She enjoyed scrapbooking, attending family events, and especially spending time with her grandchildren while cheering them on at their sporting activities. Her warmth, creativity and loving presence will be deeply missed.
Lucille is survived by her two sons, Andy Sternberg and David (April) Sternberg; five grandchildren, Megan, Bradley (Jessica) , Matthieu, Brandon, and Brooke (Andrew); four great grandchildren, Charlie, Caleb, Maleah and Evelyne; four brothers; three sisters; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Duane R. Sternberg, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, IN 46368. The burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, October 29, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana.
