Lynn Wayne Gouwens, age 70, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away at home, on Sunday, May 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on April 29, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas, to Kenneth and Patsy (Lindley) Gouwens who preceded him in death along with nephew, Keith Gouwens Jr.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Janice (Stefanko) Gouwens; daughter, Lindsey Gouwens; step-son, Jesse (Kerri) Hanson; two step-daughters, Elizabeth (Thomas) Holmberg, Susan (Mathew) Branaugh; two granddaughters, Kathryn Hanson, Hannah Branaugh; four grandsons, Robert Hanson, Jackson Holmberg, Joseph Holmberg, Holden Branaugh; and brother, Keith Gouwens Sr. Also surviving are two nephews, Joseph Gouwens, Brian Gouwens; and niece, Jennalynn (Michael) Urgero.

Lynn graduated from Thornwood High School, Class of 1973 and was very proud to be a retired Pipefitter with Local #597, Chicago.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Augsburg Lutheran Church, 100 N. Mineral Springs Road, Chesterton, IN 46304, with Pastor Erik Bernth officiating. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm at the church. Lynn will be laid to rest at Augsburg Lutheran Cemetery, Porter, IN, in private, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Lynn asked that donations be made to the SHARE Foundation with the handicapped, P.O. Box 400, Rolling Prairie, IN 46371 or at www.sharefoundation.org. Lynn was one of my mentors early in my apprenticeship. Was an extremely intelligent man and a wonderful teacher. I wouldn´t be where I am without him.
