Merle Churchill
Merle Churchill, 89, of Lake Village, I, passed away ndiana, Thursday, November 13, 2025.
She is survived by her children, Robert, Jr. (Rhonda) of Lake Village and Donna (Michael) Polich of Lowell; grandchildren, Zachary and Logan Polich; Morgan (Evan) Walsh, Ashley (Zachary) Gretencord, and Hope Churchill; great-grandchild, Dustin Andrew Walsh; sister, Karen Little; sister-in-law, Laura Schauer; devoted friend and companion, Kenneth Wheeler, many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; as well as, two adored fur babies, Sissy and Darcie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, Sr. whom she married on January 5, 1963; son, Steven; parents, Ralph and Elvera Schauer; brothers, Ralph, Jr., and Alan; nephews, Jeffrey and James Schauer; great-grandson, Bryson Robert Polich; father and mother-in-law, Ray and Elsie; sisters-in-law, Juanita Reynolds and Jane Schauer; and brothers-in-law, John Little and Melvin Reynolds.
In the early 1960's, Merle was an Administrative Assistant, for several years, working for Attorney Agnes Molter, in Kentland, Indiana. Soon thereafter, she took on the role of Bookkeeper, for Churchill Farms, serving proudly in that role for over 50 years. She cherished being the wife of a farmer and living in the country. Merle was also an accomplished pianist, organist, Adult and Children's Choir Director, as well as, Sunday School Teacher in her church, First Baptist in Momence, for decades. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and hosted many memorable family holidays through the years. Traveling to Disney each year was also a cherished memory for Merle. Her family was her greatest blessing in life.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 22nd, from 10 to 12, concluding with Funeral services at 12 pm, all at Sheets Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Lowell. Burial will follow in Lowell Memorial Cemetery.
