Michael Wooden Obituary
Michael W. Wooden, 51 of Hammond, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at the St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center, Hammond. He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Rhonda (nee Hull); loving father of Michael and Matthew; devoted son of Addie Wooden and the late William Wooden; cherished brother of Sandy (Jack) Dempsey and Ron Porter; dearest son-in-law of Ralph and Frances Hull; dear brother-in- law of Michelle Dancer; and his faithful garage buddy, his canine companion, “Shiley”. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with Pastor Pete Ward of the Whiting United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond. Visitation at the funeral home Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Michael was born on September 10, 1961 in East Chicago, IN and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He was self employed as a carpeting installer for many years. Mike was an avid Chicago Bears fan and racing enthusiast. He loved working in his garage and he could make or fix anything. Devoted to his family Mike will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated. www.baranfh.com (219) 659-4400.

He will be deeply missed, I remember going out to the back of the house and in the alley he'd always be working on something or just relaxing on his chair watching his football game or stock car racing, and always friendly, Michael continue watching over your family that loves and misses you

Every single one of us at Steel City will miss "Woody". He was always ready with a laugh or a funny story. He was honest, hard working, and filled with integrity. He didn't just work for Steel City... We had all come to know him as a friend. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends over this loss. He will be certainly missed.
