MICHELE SHEPPERD
Michele Shepperd, 55, of Buffalo, passed away at 9:00 a.m., August 25, 2016, at her home. She was born December 1, 1960, in Ottawa, IL, to Thomas "Keith" and Ruthann (Reinholt) Holcomb. On January 6, 1981, in Lake County, she married Vernon "Douglas" Shepperd; he passed away on May 7, 2011. Michele had lived in the Buffalo area, coming from Griffith. She battled Small Cell Lung Cancer, when she was diagnosed to live six months and that was over three and a half years ago. Michele beat the odds. She was a 1979 graduate of Griffith High School of Griffith. Michele most of all enjoyed just taking off and going places. Surviving are her children: Nicole (Michael) Pugh, and Stefanie (Brent) Skelton, both of Lafayette, and Stephen Shepperd of Monticello; step-daughter, Sarah (Chad) Schipper of Highland; nine grandchildren; parents, Thomas "Keith" and Ruthann Holcomb of Griffith; sisters, Lisa (Chris) Gonzales, Laura Vestal, and Kelly (Mark) Snyder, all of Griffith; and companion, Joe Minthorn of Monticello. Michele was preceded in death by sister, Rhonda Holcomb; brother, Stephen Holcomb; and brother-in- law, Timothy "Tim" Vestal. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (DST), August 28, 2016, at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home at 6:00 p.m. (DST), August 28, 2016. Graveside Service will be at 11:00 a.m. (CST), August 29, 2016, at the Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
