Nellie Momcilovich Obituary
Nellie Momcilovich, (nee Karanovich) age 94 of Merrillville, passed away December 29, 2016. She was born to Bozo and Ruth Karanovich in Blanford, Indiana on May 17, 1922. Nellie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years Mile Momcilovich, and her dear brother Mele "Jiggs" Karanovich. She is survived by her two beloved children; daughter, Diane (Thomas) Nolan; son, Mike (Kathy) Momcilovich; adored grandchildren: Bethany Nolan, Erin (Ruston Mitchell) Nolan, Jason Momcilovich, Eric (Jackie) Momcilovich; two great grandchildren: Nora and Olive; sister, Mary Ellis and brother, Robert Karanovich; also many other relatives, kumovi and dear friends. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft St, Merrillville, IN directly at 10:00a.m. with V. Rev Aleksandar Novakovic officiating. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery. There will be a one hour visitation at 9:00a.m. until the time of Service. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to St Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 8700 Taft St, Merrillville, IN 46410. Diane and Michael,
Sorry to hear about your Mothers passing. Your parents and mine (Dom and Sophie Skorich Venardi) were friends all their lives. Our Mothers were very strong, good, and generous Serbian women. Will be thinking of Nellie and Sophie as we celebrate Serbian Christmas this Saturday, January 7th and all the wonderful Serbian traditions and recipes they passed on to us.
