Nick Lakich Obituary
Nick Lakich Dyer, IN Nick Lakich, 69, passed away Friday February 24th at his home, of 35 years, in Dyer, Indiana. Nick was raised in South Chicago and proud of his south side heritage. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milan and Hermina Lakich. Nick is survived by his loved and loving wife of 46 years, Judy Lakich. Nick was the remarkable mentoring father of Nick (Jayne) Lakich Jr. of Crown Point, Indiana and Daniel (Loraine) Lakich of Walhalla, South Carolina. The proud grandfather of Eric Lakich of San Clemente, CA, Mindy and Jessica Lakich of Crown Point, IN and Jennifer and Mark Lakich of Walhalla, SC. Loving brother of Joseph Lakich, Nashville, TN, Mary Jonatta, South Holland, IL, Sophie (Robert) Lange, Dyer, IN, Theodore Lakich, Dyer, IN, Olga Carlson, Sun City, AZ, Peter (Georganne) Lakich, Crown Point, IN. Nick was devoted to his special brothers-in-laws Kenneth, John and Fred Bronson of Blue Island, IL and Gary Bronson of Savanna, IL, also his sister-in-law, Barbara Ketelaar, Crestwood, IL. Caring uncle of many nieces and nephews. Also preceded in death by his precious sister, Helen Zureck; mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Billy Farrer; sister-in-laws: Elaine Bronson, Helene Lakich and Jeri Lakich; brother-in-laws: Peter Jonatta, Otto Zureck, Albert Zadesty and Jacob Ketelaar. Nick was a man of quick wit and a great sense of humor, who like to see people laugh. An uncomplicated man who loved family first, visiting friends, which he was blessed with many. He enjoyed fishing in the Mississippi River in the flat bottom boat, rock music, building and sitting by a camp fire, a competitive game of horseshoes with a group of friends or at the Dyer Parks group, dart games with friends, and much more. Nick enjoyed his 42 years of work between the Illinois Central and Metra Electric Railroads. He looked forward to his monthly breakfast and yearly picnic with the guys from work. Nick enjoyed life and loved people. Visitation Tuesday, February 28, 2006 from 9:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel, 11300 West 97th Lane (1/2 block West of U.S. 41/Wicker Ave. at 97th Street) St. John, IN. Cemetery private.
