Nikola Jocic Obituary

NIKOLA JOCIC CROWN POINT, IN
Nikola Jocic, age 70 of Crown Point, passed away Wednesday February 6, 2013. Nikola was a life long member of St Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and held the past position of secretary of it's Executive Board. Nikola was a founding member of the Dinara Soccer Club and carried the position of the club's first Coach. Nikola loved all sports but especially soccer. He was a retired employee with over 30 years of service from US Steel, Gary Works. Mr. Jocic is preceded in death by his parents: Djuro and Mika Jocic; and his brother, Branko Jocic. Nikola is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Dusanka (Trkulja) Jocic; three beloved children: Branko (Nancy) Jocic, Dragana (Momcilo) Despinich, and Dusan (Vesna) Jocic; five grandchildren: Nicolina Despinich, Jovan Jocic, Zachary Despinich, Nikola Jocic, and Branislav Jocic; two sisters: Dusanka Vujatovic and Dara Kladarin and families all of Serbia; and many other nieces, nephews, family members, kumovi and lifelong friends. Nikola will be remembered and dearly missed. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2013 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Eljiah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 8700 Taft St., Merrillville with Rev. Aleksandar Novakovic officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point. A Pomen service will be offered at 7:00 p.m. Friday.
