October 31, 1939 - June 11, 2025
Norman F. Balog, 85, passed away on June 11, 2025, in Hammond, Indiana.
Born on October 31, 1939, Norman was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He attended Harding Elementary School and graduated from Morton High School. Following his education, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for four years.
After his military service, Norman worked in construction as a skilled welder. Known for his hard work and serious nature, he dedicated himself to his craft with diligence and pride.
Norman had a deep love for the history of the Calumet Region and was an avid reader. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with anyone who showed interest. His passion for gardening brought him joy as he raised his own vegetables season after season. He also found great enjoyment in dancing and did so often throughout his life.
He is survived by his brother Dan (Fran) Balog of Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin; sisters Celestia (late Gene) Ason of Webster, Florida, and Joanne (late Gary) Gill of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a good friend Kevin Hutts; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick Balog Jr. and Celest Balog.
Funeral services will be private. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Norman's memory.

Nick BALOG Jr. was a brother to my father William L. BALOG. I only met Norman once and found him a very pleasant person.
