Paul Feczko, age 93 of Crown Point; formerly of Merrillville, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014.He is survived by his devoted daughter Carol (John) Norris of Crown Point; two loving granddaughters: Julie (Blake) Plumley of Winter Park, FL, Shari (Dan) Uskert of Bentonville,AR;five great-granddaughters: Alecia, Ashley, & Avery Uskert and Haley & Madison Plumley; sister Rosemary (Albert) Horvat of Crown Point; brother-in-laws: John (late Mary) Marencik and Thomas (Kate) Marencik; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife Ann (nee Marencik); parents John & Mary (nee Churley) Feczko; brother John Feczko; sister Margaret Feczko. Mr. Feczko was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Froebel High School, Class of 1939, attended University of Texas, and he enlisted in the U.S. Army/Air Corp, where he was a Tailgunner on B-17's flying on missions over Germany with the 8th Air Force, 487th Bomb Group, 838 Squadron. He flew 34 missions over Germany, including Berlin, Peenemunde, and on D-Day. He received the Air Medal with 3 Oak-Leaf Clusters, the Distinquished Flying Cross, and the Purple Heart. Paul was a retired engineer from U.S. Steel, Sheet & Tin with 30 years of service and a design draftsman for Superior Engineering for 25 years. Paul was also an avid golfer, an award winning acrylic artist, and a big tennis fan. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville) on Monday from 2:00-8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 2:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. DIRECTLY from SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church (5885 Harrison St., Merrillville) with Rev. Roy Beeching officiating.
