Peggy Ann (Chandler) Smith, 88, of Franklin, IN and formerly of Hobart, IN passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Compass Park in Franklin, IN.

She was born September 8, 1936, in Kuttawa, Kentucky to James Solomon Chandler and Dorothy Lee (Yates) Chandler.

She was a graduate of Lyon Community High School.

Peggy had been a sales associate for Macy's in Hobart, IN.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hobart, attended The Bridge Church in Indianapolis, IN and was a member of Kappa Sigma TAU.

Survivors include her sons Scott A. Smith (Christine) of Portage, IN and Craig L. Smith of Indianapolis, IN, a grandson Jacob M. Smith of Portage, IN, a dear friend Diane Rompilla (Peter) of Franklin, IN, a sister-in-law Ruth Chandler of Culver, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Jimmy Chandler, Alvin Chandler and Kenneth Chandler.

Services are private.

Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31, (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling arrangements.

This was a long time ago,but I remember Peggy from Grace United Methodist Church in Glen Park. She taught Sunday school and was very nice. I recall that she had two sons. My deepest sympathy to the family. Lora Eyrich
