Phyllis Lewandowski Obituary
Phyllis A. "Pheobe" Lewandowski, 74, of Valparaiso passed away Friday, April 15, 2016. She was born April 10, 1942 in Mishawaka to Maynard and Tomme (Hughes) Dale and graduated from South Bend St. Joseph High School. Phyllis went on to receive a B.S. and M.S. from Ball State University in Library Science. Her career as school librarian took her from Hobart Schools to Ben Franklin M.S. in Valparaiso and Westchester M.S. in Chesterton before concluding her time at Chesterton High School. As expected she loved to read books of all types. On May 28, 1966 she married Edgar J. Lewandowski who preceded her in death on March 28, 2015. Survivors include their sons: Joseph (Rebecca) Lewandowski of Wauconda, IL, Mike Lewandowski of Valparaiso; sister, Myrna; step-brothers and sisters: Jonelle, Chris, Jay and Jolene and grandchildren: Jack and Cam Lewandowski. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Chad Dale. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with funeral service beginning at 6:00 pm. Private burial will take place Thursday at Angelcrest Cemetery.

My deepest sympathy to Phoebe's family on the loss of your dear mother. You must surely be suffering greatly in losing your father and now your mother so close together.Our prayers are with you. Phoebe was a good high school friend----lots of fond memories.

I met Phyllis through her husband, Ed. Ed would take my family fishing, and Phyllis would let them fillet the fish in her laundry room. She was an attentive wife and doting grandmother. She will be missed. So sorry to hear this. Diana Foy
