Richard Meyer Obituary
Richard J. "Rick" Meyer, age 49, a resident of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Wheaton and Naperville, IL, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, IL from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born July 9, 1959 in Elmhurst, IL. Loving husband of Elizabeth "Liz" (nee Sanchez) Meyer, whom he married April 24, 2004; beloved father of Richard J. "Ricky" Meyer Jr. and Chase B. Hanlock; devoted son, of Edwin W. (Mary Rita) Meyer Jr. and the late Jane E. (nee Zopfie) Meyer; dear brother of Ellen (Michael Kay) Kwit, Carolyn (Ed) Nunn, Edwin W. (Cynthia) Meyer III, Michael (Vimala Menon) Meyer and Christopher (Kathy) Meyer; adored uncle of many; fond nephew of Richard (Patricia) Meyer, Mary (the late Joseph) Hoffmann and the late Vera (Irwin) Donlon; and loving owner of "Chicle". Rick was a graduate of Wheaton-Warrenville High School and attended the College of DuPage. He was a longtime employee of Alcatel-Lucent, Naperville and most recently LGS Innovations. He enjoyed sailing, ham radio communications, Nascar and computers. Visitation will be held Monday, January 5, 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Overman-Jones Funeral Home, 15219 S. Joliet Road, Plainfield, IL. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private. For more information, please call (815)436-9221.

I am very sorry to hear of this untimely loss. I worked with Rick "back in the day" at AT&T. He was a great guy and a great friend. I know he will be truly missed by many folks.

I am very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of briefly working with Rick at IH Main and he was always willing to help and go the extra mile to make it happen. Rick was an excellent engineer. We joked around that he needed more bluetooth headsets on his head. We will miss him. He was a true asset to the IP team.

My deeptest sympathy offered to the family and friends of Rick. I attended Wheaton Warrenville High School with Rick and had him in several classes. It was nice to get to know him in Gym class. I also lived in Arrowhead not to far from him.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Meyer-Sanchez family during this difficult time. I had the honor of meeting Rick at Lucent more than 7yrs ago. He was a good friend of mine and a great co-worker. Extremely knowledgeable in his field and an excellent teacher. Always available and willing to help no matter what time of day even when he was on vacation and/or sailing in the middle of Lake Michigan.
