Richard Summers Obituary

RICHARD "DICK" SUMMERS OKLAHOMA CITY, OK Richard "Dick" Summers, age 79 of Oklahoma City, OK and formerly of Valparaiso, IN passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. He was born on December 4, 1935 in Wabash, IN to Carl Seth and Carrie Marie (Crumrine) Summers. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Thorne) Summers of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Monica (Charles) Clennon of Rochester, IN; brothers: Glen of North Manchester, IN, Jim of Wabash, IN; Jack of Wabash, IN, Bernard of Ft. Worth, TX and Robert Summers of Wabash, IN; sister, Helen Roush of Peru, IN; grandchildren: Timothy "Richard" Clennon of San Diego, CA and Amanda (Clennon) (Corbin) Benzing of Akron, IN; step-children: Rick Blankenship, Kay Pratt, David Blankenship and Jeff Wargin; step-grandchildren: Eric Blankenship, Jaye Perry, Sam Blankenship, Emily Matthews, Adam Pratt, Harris Blankenship, Hayden Blankenship, Austin Wargin and Jackson Wargin; and great grandchildren: Dalten Chapman, Kaitlyn Reber and Jamison and Charlie Pratt. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Charlene Summers; son, Timothy Summers; brothers: Maurice, Rex and Ralph; sisters, Phyllis and Judy and step-son, Terry Blankenship. Dick served in the U.S Army from 1954 through 1957. He was a lifetime member of Local 150 Operators Union. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September, 23 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences to the family may be left at: www.ee-fh.com
