Robert Nowaczyk Obituary

Robert C. Nowaczyk Munster Robert C. Nowaczyk, age 63 of Munster, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (nee Koniarski); one son, Kevin Nowaczyk; two brothers, Edward (Carol) Nowaczyk and Dennis (Mary Ann) Nowaczyk; many nieces and nephews and his mother-in-law, Irene (late Raymond) Koniarski. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward F. and Mary (nee Knapp) Nowaczyk. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. at the Anthony & Dziadowicz Funeral Home, 9445 Calumet Ave. (at 45th St.), Munster with a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Thomas More Church, Munster, with Rev. Keith Virus officiating. Entombment Holy Cross Mausoleum, Calumet City, IL. Visitation Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Wake service Friday, 4:00 p.m. Bob was Fire Chief for the Town of Munster Fire Department for the past 22 years. He was a member of the Lake County Fire Chief Association, the Indiana Fire Chief Association, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association, the National Fire Protection Agency, the International Society of Fire Service Instructors and the Illinois 3rd District Fire Chiefs Association. Chief Nowaczyk was a board member of the Duneland Fire School and served on the Advisory Board of the Ivy Tech College Fire Science Program. Bob was a member of American Legion Allied Post #369 in East Chicago - who will conduct military honors. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

I had the chance to get to know Chief several years back when I dated a Munster Fireman. He was such a kind man! He always made me feel welcome at the fire house and made to feel part of the department family!
