Robert A. Talarek

ROBERT A. TALAREK HAMMOND, IN Robert A. Talarek, age 67, of Hammond, IN passed away peacefully at his home following a long and courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, March 30, 2014 with his family at his bedside. Robert was born on March 27, 1947 in East Chicago to the late Andrew and Mary (Bistrican) Talarek. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Nadia; his cherished daughter, Sorayah; sister, Anita; and aunts, nieces, and cousins. Robert was a 1966 graduate of Bishop Noll High School. He served his country with pride during the Vietnam War in the Marine Corps. Robert retired from Atlas Tubing after 22 years of service. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame College football and basketball; a passion that he shared with his dear friend, Tony. Robert also enjoyed the Chicago Cubs. His hobbies included traveling with his family, driving his Camaro, gardening, and bird watching, as well as the company of his late pet, Lucky. He will always be remembered as a kind, loving and caring man. Robert was the best husband and dad ever! He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert's honor may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the American Cancer Society and/or Hospice of the Calumet Area. A visitation and memorial service will be held at Memory Lane Funeral Home, 6305 W. Lincoln Highway (US 30), Crown Point, IN on Friday, April 4, 2014 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. with a service immediately following.
