Ruth Tarailo Obituary
Ruth Tarailo, age 83, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2011. Co-founder and co-owner of Bronko's Restaurants since 1964, she was always quite fond of her Serbian-Montenegrin heritage. Ruth was born in Windsor, Ontario-Canada to the late Savo and Andja Radenovic. She was a graduate of Wayne State University, and earned a Master's Degree from Loyola University of Chicago, IL. On June 10, 1950, she was married to Bronko Tarailo at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Gary, IN. After 38 very dedicated years, she retired as a Lake County school teacher. Ruth was a founding member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodoxy Cathedral of Merrillville, its Circle of Serbian Sisters, and member of the Serb National Federation. Also, a very active, lifelong member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. In addition to her parents, her beloved husband, Bronko, preceded her in death in 1984; along with her sister, Olga Tarailo of Windsor, Canada. Ruth is survived by her son, Nick (Kathy) Tarailo of Crown Point, and their children: Daniela, Andjela and Katija Tarailo; daughter, Danica "Donchi" Tarailo-Blesich, and her children: Alek, Nicky and Taya Blesich; two sisters: Mileva (Thomas) Flemming and Danica (Blazo) Radanovic, both of Canada; sisters-in-law: Violet Tica and Donna Mace; Kumovi: Richard and Polly Vrtikapa of Merrillville; also, many nieces, nephews, Kumovi and family-friends across the U.S., Canada and Europe. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Directly at St. Elijah Cathedral, 8700 Taft Street, Merrillville, with Rev. Aleksandar Novakovic, officiating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN under Savich & Semplinski Directors. A Pomen Service will be offered at 7:00 PM on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to St. Elijah Cathedral, the Altzheimers Association, or to Serbian Mothers Against Hunger.
