Sandy Knoernschild Obituary

VALPARAISO, IN - Sandy Kay Knoernschild, 82, of Valparaiso passed away Monday, November 6, 2023. She was born October 6, 1941, in Valparaiso to Don and Norma (Bledsoe) Husband and graduated from Valparaiso High School. Sandy made her career with the Porter County Voters Registration office for over 25 years. Fondly referred to as "Mom" by everyone who met her through her children, she had an impeccable sense of fashion that was always adorned with a carefully selected menagerie of jewelry. Sandy's family and especially her grandkids were the focus of her life.
On October 29, 1960, she married Al Knoernschild who survives along with their children: Kevin and Kurt Knoernschild both of Knoxville, TN, Kelli Hall of Valparaiso; grandchildren: Brandon, Derek, Dustin, Kaytlyn, Kyle, Kaylee and Grifin; great-grandchildren: Carson, Harper, Finn, Piper, Maisie and Lincoln; siblings: Donna (Don) Mead, John (Janele) husband and sister-in-law, Kathy husband. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kerri (Robert) Sobieski in 2008; granddaughter, Lindsey Sobieski in 1993; and brother, Nick Husband.
A visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1700 Monticello Park Dr., Valparaiso with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. and burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital for Children.
