Sophia Bybee, 92 of Medaryville, formerly of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. She was born April 19, 1932, in Little Washington, PA to the late Joseph and Nelly Kruczek. Sophia made her career in various factory jobs throughout her life. She attended Community Gospel Baptist Church in Knox, and enjoyed spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren. Sophia will be remembered for her sweet personality and loving nature.
In 1978, Sophia married Arson Kelly Bybee, who preceded her in death in 2021. She is survived by her children: Cynthia (Mike) Owen, Dawnna Standish, and Scott (Kelli) Ensign; stepson, Mark (Melissa) Bybee; grandchildren: Michael Owen, Christopher (Jackie) Owen, Colette (Larry Humphrey) Mazurek, Alivia, Conner, and Caleb Ensign; Jennifer (Che) Standish; step-granddaughter, Kari Bybee; great grandchildren: Trevor, Kylee, Joseph, Vivian, Madison; great great granddaughter, Layla; and sister, Anne Polight. She was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Wade; several siblings; and nephew, Rick Spochart.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
