Stevan Micic
Stevan Micic, age 94, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Stevan was born November 22, 1919 in Amajlije, Yugoslavia to parents Sava and Marija Micic. During WW II he was captured and spent 4 years as a prisoner of war in Germany. After the war her served another five years in Germany while working for the British Army. He always had a dream to come to the land of opportunity America. He and his brother Milan received a chance at freedom in 1949 when they were sponsored to come to the USA by Mile Mamula and his family from Ohio. Stevan later moved to Indiana and worked at Budd Company in Gary, IN where he would retire from. Stevan was an active life long member of the St Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Merrillville, IN as well as the Serbian National Federation. Stevan had a passion for his family and providing for them. He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years Zaga (Mihajlovic) Micic; beloved children: Marija (Vinko) Topalovic, Ivanka (Dr Milos) Tomich, Stevan M. (Lori) Micic, Ljuboje (Shirley) Micic; eight cherished grandchildren: Marko & Natasha Tomich, Stevan A, Ivana, Tatiana, Danijela, Aleksandar & Kristina Micic; brothers Dragic Micic & family, Mico Micic & family; Sister Milica Knezevic; brother in law Dobrinko Mihajlovic & family; sister in law Bosiljka Mihajlovic & family; Kumovi Rade & LJubo Blagojevich & family. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family members and life long family friends. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 3014 directly at 9 AM at St Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 9191 Mississippi St, Merrillville, IN. Interment Third Lake Monastery Cemetery, Third Lake, Illinois. Visitation will be held Monday, at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, from 4 PM to 8 PM with a Pomen Service at 7 PM, V.
