Steven Thompson Obituary

Steven Craig Thompson, 55, of St. John, Indiana, passed away on December 8, 2025.

Steve grew up in The Region, as he affectionately called Northwest Indiana. He attended Highland High School and graduated in 1988. He was passionate about baseball, and played in high school and then in college at Valparaiso University. His competitive spirit led him to pursue sales as a career after graduating with a degree in business. He worked in the pharmaceutical sector for his entire career and received many accolades.

Steve met his wife, Kelley, in their freshman year of high school, launching a lifelong love and commitment to each other as soulmates. They were over the moon for their two children to be born to create the foundation of a close and loving family. Clay was born in 1999 and Brenna was born in 2001. Together the four of them lived life to the fullest.

Everyone who met Steve could feel his infectious passion for family, good times, goofy humor, love of all things cheese, coaching, golf, the Bears, the White Sox, IU football, pool time, and his detail-oriented lawn care. His passion for sports extended as support for his children and their athletic pursuits as coach and biggest fan. One of his favorite ways to spend time with friends and family was on the golf course. He loved to connect with his family in silly pranks, IU tailgates, and loving conversations. Traveling to see family and special outings with friends were a big part of the joy of knowing Steve. His commitment to his family was imprinted in the countless memories of time spent playfully living, loving, and laughing. Most importantly, Steve was a bright light as a supportive husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Steve's kind energy touched so many lives. He was surrounded by people who loved him and truly enjoyed being in his presence. In remembrance, we invite you to think of a meaningful memory you have with Steve, reflect on the special connection you shared, and hold it close.

Steve is survived by his wife Kelley (Wohadlo) Thompson of 32 years of loving marriage; his son Clayton Thompson, his daughter Brenna Thompson; his mother Barbara Thompson; his brother Scott Thompson (Marcy); his sister Vickie Milshoff (Chris); his father-in-law John Wohadlo (Sandy); his brother-in-law Marc Wohadlo (Carin); nieces and nephews including (Bryan, Michael (Crystal), Taylor, Amelia, and Zoë); many dear friends; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and by his beloved dog, Maizy. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Thompson, and his mother-in-law, Rosemary Dan.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 10 at 11:00 a.m., with a 10:00 a.m. visitation, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Dyer, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Steve to Lakeshore Paws at www.lakeshorepaws.org. To truly honor Steve, we carry forward his faith, kindness, generosity, and smiles.

"What we once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." - H. Keller.

Earlier today

We were saddened and shocked to hear of Steve's passing. For several years he had been one of my favorite pharmaceutical reps and I always looked forward to his visits to hear what was happening in his life. He was so dedicated to his family and occupation. Always a smile on his face and willing to help in any way. Rest in peace, Steve
