Stojan Kalaba Obituary
Stojan Kalaba, age 84, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2011. He was born on March 6, 1927 to the late Milos and Marta Kalaba in Gornji Klasnic, Glina, formerly Yugoslavia. In 1969, he came to the United States and eventually settled in Lake County. Stojan was a member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and a retired employee of the Budd Company. In addition, he will be remembered as an avid reader, and was always very sociable. Preceded in death by his beloved son, Milan Kalaba. Stojan is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Draga Kalaba; daughter, Nada (Rade) Ostojic and their children: George (Tanja) Ostojic ad Vera Ostojic; daughter-in-law, Jelena Kalaba, with her children and grandchildren; also five great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ljuba (Milan) Mamula; nephews: Milan and Marko Copic, and their families; niece, Ankica Turcic and her family of New York. He will be missed by many other relatives, nieces, nephews, Kumovi, and family friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM Directly at St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 8700 Taft St., Merrillville, with Rev. Aleksandar Novakovic, officiating. Interment, Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN under Savich & Semplinski Directors.
