Hi Margo, It is Christmas Day. I am so thinking about you in prayer and support in this difficult time, and also in gratitude for all of the memories you have over a 50+ year marriage. I looked up your number to call you. But the lump in my throat. . . I would not be able to form words. Also, I still have the sweet bracelet and high school graduation card from both of you. When I moved to AZ, I could only bring 10 cubic feet of stuff. I brought you with me in Spirit and think of you often. Thinking of you. Love, b. (Barb Boznak)

Margo, I only met you one time a lot of years ago, I worked at Lake Station Schools in the Superintendent's Office, so I got to know Terry when he was doing our Substitute teacher classes. I so enjoyed talking to him, he was such a gentleman and we all learned to really like him. I am so sorry for your loss but I am sure you all have some really great memories of Terry, enjoy them.

To Margo and family.
Sincere condolences on the passing of Terry.Terry and I were classmates at Bishop Noll. Additionally we were second cousins. His grandmother Susan was my grandfathers sister. I was sorry that we could not meet when you were in Florida. However, family is very important. May you have peace in knowing Terry is in heaven at the side of God. Here is a picture of Terry from the 1960 Noll yearbook.

I was saddened to hear of Terry's passing. He was a unique individual who made you happy to talk with him.

One thing I recall was an incident which still brings a smile. It was during the summer of our senior year. Gary Police would hire college seniors to act as "quasi beach tariff people" at the entrances to Lake Michigan. They would also supply these seniors with a bright red helmet and a lanyard with a whistle attached.

In essence there were 6 places where people would direct which would go to 4 places from there would be 2 places and then finally to the road at the beach.

Terry decided that he could better meet girls on their way to Lake Michigan. Terry bought a helmet liner at a Army/Navy store and then painted bright red.

Terry would put on this equipment and go to the first intersection that was not occupied be one of the "Gary quasi beach tariff. At one of these occasion Terry met a girl named Margo from the Lew Wallace area.

As a teacher myself, I have come to know many people in education. Even back in middle school, at Fegely, I began to realize what great educators looked like. Mr. Lavenda treated everyone, including myself, with a great deal of respect. He is on my "Mount Rushmore" of influential educators in my life. The world has lost a great man, and heaven has gained a phenomenal individual. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
