Wayne Szany Obituary

WAYNE J. SZANY LOWELL, IN Wayne J. Szany, age 75, of Lowell, IN went to heaven Friday, February 7, 2014. Wayne was born in Hammond, IN and married Donna Jones in 1957. He retired from Inland Steel in 1987. Wayne is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna; sons: Steve (Anita) Szany, Louis (Cynthia) Szany and Wayne (Dorothy) Szany; daughters: Debbie and Paula Szany; grandchildren: Jon and Nick Szany, Jessica (Brian) Sievers, Alycia (Ray) Borchert, Megan Zamazal and Kelly Szany; great grandchildren: Irene, Kiara, Jasmine and Lacey; brothers: Gregory (Connie) Szany and Dennis (Karen) Szany; sisters: Nancy (Richard) Manka and Susan (Tom) Kruk; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his puppy Poochie. Wayne was preceded in death by parents: Louis and Sue Szany; brothers: Bob, Jerry and Louis Szany; sister, Sylvia Riebe; grandsons: Steven and David Szany; and great grandson, Anthony Mogan. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., (one-half mile south of US 30) Schererville, IN with Rev. Theodore Mens officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Wayne was loved by many and will be missed by all. I knew Wayne over 50 years. We worked together at Inland Steel. I grew up in North Hammond with (Pepsi Cola)his nick name at Inland Steel. Lots of fun in the old days with Wayne. Sorry to his hear of his passing

Wayne was a wonderul man and a great customer. We all loved him and would have so much fun teasing him when he would come over to see us. My daughter especially loved him and called him "Grandpa Szany". Wayne will be missed by all of us here at Fireworks Over Amerca.
