ALAN BANDLER Obituary
BANDLER--Alan. We mourn the loss of Alan Bandler, who passed away peacefully at his home in Chevy Chase, MD on November 22. He was 95 years old. Born on July 4, 1930, Alan grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, embraced by a loving immigrant family. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School, New York University, and, after serving in the U.S. Army, from Harvard Law School. He served in the U.S. Army's 301st Radio Broadcasting and Leaflet Group in Germany from 1951-53. Alan worked as a real estate attorney in New York City, including many years as in-house counsel for Julien J. Studley, Inc., until his retirement. A true New Yorker, Alan took advantage of what the city had to offer and worked to make it a better place. His many volunteer activities included being a founding member of the National Aphasia Association and serving on the board of Project Ezra. He took on leadership roles at Park Avenue Synagogue and Congregation Or Zarua in New York. Warm, funny and innately social, Alan touched immeasurably many throughout his active life of nearly a century. A loving father, father-in-law, and grandfather, Alan was devoted to his immediate as well as the extended Bandler and Belkin families. Among family, friends and colleagues, he will be cherished and remembered as a mensch. Alan is survived by his children Kenneth Bandler (Martha Jimenez) of Long Island City, NY, and Susan Bandler (Joel Korn) of Washington, DC, along with grandchildren Alejandra Jimenez Bandler, Jana Korn and Jacob Korn, and his former wife, Roz Goldberg. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 43 years, Gloria "Jinx" Bandler (1997). May his memory be a blessing. The funeral will be held at Plaza Jewish Community Chapel in Manhattan on November 25, 9:30am, and he will be buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
