ALAN WOLFLEY

WOLFLEY--Alan, of New Canaan, CT died on March 8th at the age of 87. Son of the late Chester E. and Lois K. of Rockford, IL. Educated at Middlebury College ('45) and Harvard Business School ('49). Wolfley met his wife, Joanne Higgins, at Middlebury and they were married for 66 years. He served with decoration in the US Army Air Corp and flew 51 B-24 combat missions in WW2. These wartime experiences stood him well in later business pursuits, which included top positions with five "Fortune 500" companies and also a successful entrepreneurial career, including pioneering work in the Colombian seaborne coal trade. He remained active in business until his final day. Wolfley was also a passionate golfer and a longstanding member of Wee Burn CC and Pine Valley GC. He is survived by his wife, their three children C. Alan, Susan W. Baumgartner and E. William, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
