ALBERTA CIFOLELLI Obituary

CIFOLELLI--Alberta, was an artist honored by the Cleveland Institute of Art as one of 18 Distinguished Alumni in 2017 and in 2018 by the Charles Burchfield award. Alberta met her husband Charles at Kent State and married in July 9, 1955. Cifolelli painted prolifically in the 1960s as she raised three boys and taught at the Laurel School in Shaker Heights as well as The Cleveland Institute. In 1970 the artist moved to Westport, Connecticut, where her career flourished. Cifolelli's work was part of the Four Centuries of Women's Art exhibit by The National Museum of Women in the Arts that toured the U.S. and Japan in 1990. Her painting "Cleveage" is part of the museum's permanent collection. "My work is intensely personal and alludes to events in my life," Cifolelli wrote in 2016. "Changes in my work over more than six decades have been driven by an inner need for development rather than dictated by fashion. My work has never fit neatly into the mainstream, nor have I been identified as part of a school." Further information on her work legacy is at www.cifolelli.com She passed peacefully on May 7, 2022 in her home with the company of family and surrounded by art. Alberta is survived by her husband Charles P. Lamb Jr., and their sons Mark, John and Todd Lamb, as well as two grandchildren. The family is planning a celebration of life for June-July. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alberta's memory to the Silvermine Guild of Artists.

To Mark, John and Todd -
I had lost track of Alberta over this past year. The last I had heard was her issue with her eyesight. I am so sorry for your loss and sorry so late to learn of Alberta´s passing.
She used to comment on my Facebook page from time to time over the years. I have always been proud to have an early work from her on display at my home. Of course most importantly, she was one of my Mom´s first and best friends in the US when she came over from Germany. She will be missed!

During the last years Alberta and I were not in communication.
Iregret that because I remember her as an outstanding person in every way..kind, sensitive, generous, intelligent and truly gifted. Alberta was a one of a kind outstanding human being.!
I extend my sympathies to Charles her long time life partner.
He also is a wonderful person. I was very moved by his memoir. I enjoyed many visits with Charles and Alberta at their home and other events...always very enjoyable times filled with laughter, good conversation and amazing food!

So I extend my sympathy to the entire family for their loss.
Alberta wa a one of a kind human!!!!!
