ALVIN M. SIEGLER

SIEGLER--Alvin M. MD, Emeritas Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn died on May 4, 2013 at the age of 90. Formerly of Woodmere, NY, currently of Boca Raton, FL and Southbury, CT. A graduate of NYU School of Medicine with an MD degree, he received a Doctorate of Medical Science (DSc) from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Siegler specialized in Infertility and was a pioneer in gynecologic endoscopy. He co-authored seven books primarily on the use of endoscopy in gynecologic surgery. He was among the first physicians to use the hysteroscope to search for abnormalities within the uterus. He introduced the technique in China in 1980. Dr. Siegler served as President of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, The New York Obstetrical Society, and the Fallopius International Society. A physician for more than 50 years, he leaves a legacy of dedication to scholarship, research, teaching, and the excellent and compassionate care of his patients. Loving and beloved, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marcia Malawista Siegler, daughter Dr. Judith Carol Siegler, son Samuel Lewis Siegler MD and his wife Kathy Spenard Siegler, grandchildren Kate, Kevin, Alex, Scott, and Jeffrey, great-grandchildren Tristan and Aiden, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He embraced life with passion and enriched it with his creative hands, keen mind, and loving heart. He will be with us always.
