ANITA FIORILLO

FIORILLO--Anita Pitney. Anita Pitney Fiorillo, passed away peacefully at home in Chatham, NY, on July 7, 2025, at age 79. Born in New York City on October 30, 1945, Anita was the daughter of Shelton Pitney Jr. and Barbara Bradley Manice. She grew up in New York and Mexico, became fluent in Spanish, and later studied at the Shipley School, Barnard, Empire State College, and Columbia University, where her love of archaeology took her to the Yucatan. Anita met her husband, John Fiorillo, while working in the administration of Mayor John Lindsay. They shared 56 years of marriage, raising their daughter, Alexandra, and traveling together across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Anita spent most of her career at Arnold Saks Associates, rising to Vice President and Director of Operations. She was a devoted community leader in both Chatham and NYC, serving nonprofits focused on mutual aid, the environment, youth programming, women's rights, animals, and the arts. A world traveler, gardener, and New York Times Spelling Bee whiz, she is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Alexandra Fiorillo; granddaughter, Tilly; and a large circle of family and friends.
