ANITA SILVERMAN Obituary

SILVERMAN--Anita Palm, died February 6 from pneumonia at age 80. She was the beloved wife of Michael, proud mother of Miriam, Joseph and Jeffrey, and doting grandmother to Stella and Henry, with granddaughter Riley on the way. Born in Louisiana and raised in El Paso, Texas, she moved to New York with her husband in 1976 and lived on Manhattan's Upper West Side while working in the city's public schools. Dedicated to fighting against racism and for Palestinian rights, she loved painting, quilting, reading and visiting her favorite diners with friends. Survivors also include brothers Bill Palm and John Wilkey. A celebration of her life will be held later.

Anita was such a sweetheart. Even if we didn´t see each other for long stretches, it was easy to catch up because she was curious and wanted to know everything. She was smart and kind and loving. She will be missed.

Anita took my Watercolor painting classes. She was aways so energetic and optimistic, she made our classes fun and interesting. I will surely miss her.
