ANN MALLOUK

MALLOUK--Ann M. The Hofstra community is deeply saddened by the passing of Chair Emerita Ann M. Mallouk, Class of 1972. Ms. Mallouk made Hofstra history in 1991 when she became the first woman to be elected chair of the University's Board of Trustees, a position she held through 1993. She had been a member of the Board since 1972, serving as secretary and chairing the Committee on Trustees and Academic Affairs. A social worker with a lifelong commitment to social justice and advocacy, Ms. Mallouk earned a BA from Hofstra after her children had grown and then an MSW from Adelphi University. She served as executive director of the Family Life Center, Inc., in Garden City from 1981-1987. Ms. Mallouk's generosity to the university includes the establishment of the George and Ann M. Mallouk Scholarship Fund at Hofstra University and the Ann M. Mallouk Endowed Scholarship for Women in Science and Mathematics. Ms. Mallouk was honored by Hofstra with an Alumni Achievement Award and the George M. Estabrook Award for her longstanding friendship and support.
