BERNSTEIN--Anne Elayne

M.D., FAPA, passed on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 79 years of age. Dr. Bernstein was a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Adjunct Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College in Westchester for 13 years, and Clinical Professor Psychiatry, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University for 29 years. A deeply dedicated instructor, writer, supervisor and mentor, Dr. Bernstein educated and trained a generation of clinicians who currently oversee some of the finest institutes of psychiatric care. Dr. Bernstein was active for several decades in the American Medical Women's Association, a pioneer in the education of young female doctors. A woman of tremendous dedication and deep faith, she dedicated all of her waking hours to the care of her patients and students. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her students and colleagues, her family and her loving friends in The Village of Mamaroneck, NY. Dr. Bernstein is survived by her loving husband, Richard K. Bernstein M.D., children Julie Bernstein and David Borhani, Laura Bernstein, Jeffrey and Michelle Bernstein and Lili Grun, and grandchildren Jody and Bella Borhani and Nathan and Adin Bernstein. A private service and burial were held in her honor. May her memory be a blessing for the many lives she has touched.
