ANTONIO GARZON Obituary
Professor Emeritus of SUNY Downstate Medical School, passed away on March 14th 2018. Survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Margaret (Joyce), his children, Paula and Ian, Fernando and Linda, Maria and Mark, Pedro and Karen. Grandchildren, Christopher and Michael, Manolo and Amalia, and Joshua. He was a founding member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and Society of University Surgeons, and Director of Surgery, St. Vincent's Hospital, Staten Island, 1977-94. He pioneered the characterization and treatment of traumatic chest injuries. Dr. Garzon has left a lasting legacy of patient care by his mentorship and medical research. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 17 at 12pm, St. Catherine of Siena Parish Center, 142 Perryville Rd., Hampton, NJ 08827. Funeral services are handled by: Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington, NJ 08822. www.holcombefisher.com In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Catholic Charities of Metuchen, NJ or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NYC.

I had the privilege of working with Dr. Garzon at St. Vincent's, he was a wonderful surgeon ,a man of integrity. May he Rest In Peace .
