APOSTOLOS TSIOURIS

TSIOURIS--Dr. Apostolos John, Chief of the Division of Neuroradiology at Weill Cornell Medicine and Professor of Clinical Radiology at Weill Cornell Medical College, passed away at the age of 53 on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025 in New York City, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Dr. Tsiouris graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the Johns Hopkins University in 1993; and Alpha Omega Alpha from the Weill Cornell Medical College in 1997. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in neuroradiology at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he remained for his entire illustrious and prolific career. Dr. Tsiouris was a dedicated, well respected neuroradiologist, outstanding clinician scholar, dedicated educator, published author, researcher, mentor and internationally renowned speaker. He was recognized as a teacher and mentor through multiple awards, most recently as the recipient of the American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR)'s Prestigious Outstanding Contributions in Neuroradiology Education Award. As a clinician, Dr. Tsiouris was consistently recognized by his peers as one of Castle Connolly's Top Doctors. He and Justine Frances Schiro were married on September 30th, 2006 in New York City where they resided with their two daughters, Elisabeth and Annabel. Dr. Tsiouris was a devoted family man and a trusted friend. He is survived by his wife, daughters, parents Ioannis Apostolos and Despina Tsiouris, brother Simon, (Fatima) and brother- in-law, James Schiro Jr. (Aileen).
