ARNOLD COHN Obituary
COHN--Arnold S. It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Arnold S. Cohn, who died peacefully in his New York City apartment on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 90. He had an intelligence, kindness, humility, and a quiet strength of character that touched everyone who knew him. Arnold graduated with honors from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and went on to earn a master's degree in accounting from Columbia University. Before beginning his professional career, he proudly served in the United States Army, where he earned an Expert Marksman Badge. Professionally, Arnold served for many decades as managing partner of Boro Fuel Oil Co., Inc., where he worked side by side with his cousin Bernie Cohn. Arnold oversaw daily operations. He preferred to remain behind the scenes, dedicating himself to running the business with accuracy, honesty, and consistency. When his son Jeffrey joined the company after college, Arnold took great pride in watching him modernize and grow the business, ultimately helping lead it to its successful sale to Approved Oil. While his accomplishments were many, Arnold will be remembered most for the man he was: goodhearted, generous, smart, loyal, and deeply loving. His dry sense of humor and perfectly timed remarks brought joy to family, friends, and neighbors alike. He had an extraordinary ability to make people feel comfortable, appreciated, and understood. Arnold was adored by those closest to him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Valente Cohn; his sons Jeffrey Cohn and Dr. Richard (Ricky) Cohn; his daughters-in-law Lynn and Laura; his grandchildren Bari, Brett, Todd, Rachel, and Emma; and five great-grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his extended family including Lynda Ann Valente, Joe Russello, and Alexi Rottenstreich. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce. Funeral services will be private for the immediate family at graveside. The family will observe Shiva on Sunday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Belair Clubhouse, 1 Whitbay Drive, West Orange, NJ. Arnold will be deeply missed, remembered always, and forever honored by the family and community he loved so dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MJHS Hospice care at MJHS Foundation.
